Promastodonsaurus ("before Mastodonsaurus") is an extinct genus of capitosauroid temnospondyls within the family Mastodonsauridae.1 Fossils of the genus were found in the Ischigualasto Formation of the Ischigualasto-Villa Unión Basin in northwestern Argentina.2
