SimplyWise is an American software company founded in 2020 and headquartered in New York City. The company develops mobile applications for receipt scanning, expense and mileage tracking, and construction cost estimating.¹ The Journal of Accountancy has listed SimplyWise's receipts application among digital recordkeeping tools used for tax substantiation, alongside Expensify, QuickBooks, FreshBooks, and Everlance.²

SimplyWise's primary application is a mobile receipt-scanning and expense-tracking tool. It captures paper receipts through a phone camera, categorizes them, and exports them as spreadsheets or expense reports; it can also import receipts from a user's email and Amazon account, and reconcile transactions from linked bank and credit-card accounts.²³⁴ The company also publishes a construction cost-estimating application aimed at residential construction business owners, which generates itemized labor and materials estimates from photo input and supports LiDAR room scanning on compatible iPhone models;⁵ a mileage-tracking application; and an automated phone-answering application currently distributed only on iOS.

According to a case study published by Deciens Capital, SimplyWise initially used a third-party optical character recognition (OCR) provider, which accounted for an estimated thirty to forty percent of the company's gross revenue at one point. Between mid-2022 and 2023, the company developed an in-house OCR tool built on a large language model, a project the case study describes as costing approximately US$100,000.⁶
