First Tactical is an American apparel and equipment brand founded in 2015 by Dan Costa, the founder of 5.11 Tactical.¹ The company manufactures functional clothing, footwear, and gear tailored for law enforcement, military, firefight, and emergency medical services professionals.²

History

Entrepreneur Dan Costa founded 5.11 Tactical as a standalone brand in 2003, later selling his majority stake in the company in 2007. In April 2015, Costa launched First Tactical, pulling over some of his former engineering and design team to create a direct-to-consumer business model.¹

On April 19, 2017, Point Blank Enterprises, a global manufacturer of protective gear, acquired First Tactical.³ The acquisition was structured to integrate First Tactical's apparel lines with Point Blank's existing ballistic armor systems.⁴
