Cuinchy

Cuinchy is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France about 5 miles (8.0 km) east of Béthune and 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Lille, by the banks of the Canal-d’Aire.

Cuinchy (French pronunciation: [kɥɛ̃ʃi] or [kwɛ̃ʃi]) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France3 about 5 miles (8.0 km) east of Béthune and 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Lille, by the banks of the Canal-d’Aire.

History

The village was the source of the de Quincy family, who played a major part in the history of medieval England and Scotland.4
