Help me!

When creating bibliographies of authors, is there an recommended format to list their books in? That is to say, is there more I should do than simply italicize the title of the books, such as by including its publisher, publication date, or ISBN? For example, the bibliography of Virginia Woolf includes titles and publication dates, while the bibliography of David Foster Wallace includes titles, publication dates, and ISBN numbers. Thanks! Hi, the Manual of Style (MOS) has some guidance on this, at WP:BIBLIOGRAPHY. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:42, 28 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Spaces in section headings

Hello! Please stop adding spaces into section headings per MOS:VAR. Their omission is common and is not an error. Thank you. FromCzech (talk) 10:08, 29 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thanks for contacting me. I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of that. I'll be more mindful of it in the future. Salmon of Knowledge (talk) 10:13, 29 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Politics of Nepal, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Judicial Council was added. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Robert M. T. Hunter

Hi Salmon of Knowledge. First of all, you have a great username! Mr Hunter openly and very publicly declared his treason and insurrection from the United States. The sources below all show this. My understanding is that this is not necessary in the introduction -- just as there are no sources indicating he was an American or a "he" (man). Common and uncontested identifiers are not necessary in introductions, correct? BoutThatAction (talk) 22:30, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thanks for the compliment, and thanks for contacting me. In general, it's true that common knowledge doesn't require sources to confirm it. However, information that can potentially be seen as contentious, such as the identifiers you're introducing, usually does need to be backed up by reliable sources—see WP:WHYCITE. There is indeed a lack of citations in the lead section, but that's likely because information in the lead section is usually verified in the body, as its purpose is simply to summarize the most important points of the article, thus obviating the need for the citations to be copied—see MOS:LEADCITE. That would mean that if you add information to the lead, you would have to add the same information somewhere in the body with reliable sources attached to it. Because the labels in question carry a strong connotation, other users will likely object to their inclusion, and you'll probably have to seek consensus on its talk page before your changes can be fully integrated. So long as you have strong sources and arguments, however, you should see many of your changes being made. Salmon of Knowledge (talk) 22:45, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Another barnstar for you!

What I add

Was true I saw the movie genius ~2026-39769-45 (talk) 20:16, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for contacting me. I'm assuming your message is regarding the edits you made at The Good Neighbor (2022 film). Even if information you add to an article is true, our policies at Wikipedia prevent the addition of content that isn't backed up by reliable sources—see WP:V and WP:RS. That means that even if you know with certainty what you're adding is factually correct, so long as other users can't verify that, you wouldn't be allowed to change content in an article. I know it's a bit frustrating, but it's one of the most fundamental policies we have here, as we want to prevent misinformation to the greatest extent possible. If you need any help finding sources, you can see WP:FIND. If you need help citing sources, you can see WP:CS. If you need help with anything else, visit Help:Contents, the Teahouse, or ask me for further clarification here. I appreciate your attempts to contribute your knowledge here; best of luck! Welcoming users before they edit

Hey, typically we don't welcome users before they edit because it can confuse them, send them email notifications, and can encourage vandals. It can also be seen as gaming by some people. Just thought I would leave a heads up. LuniZunie(talk) 20:31, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not to mention if a username is really bad and you don't notice, it's extra work for admins as they now need to delete the page and revdel logs and such. LuniZunie(talk) 20:32, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Rollback granted

source ↗

Hi Salmon of Knowledge. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits. For more information about when rollback is appropriate, see Wikipedia:Rollback § When to use rollback.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the permission will be revoked.
  • Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!

I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, and feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate use of rollback. If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin) and Wikipedia:Rollback. Good luck and thanks! CoconutOctopus talk 16:09, 16 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Salmon of Knowledge (talk) 17:40, 16 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
