- Thank you really. I feel honored to be welcomed by a veteran editor and Wikimedia UK member. For the sake of transparency on my part and at the risk of stating what you're already aware of, I'm not new here: I've been regularly on here for four years as a logged-in editor.

- Thanks for the reply. I hadn't spotted the notice on your user page, but I like to welcome accounts anyway whether they are new people or not. It just sends a signal that your contributions are seen and appreciated! I could see you improving the wording of a few articles on my watchlist. If I'd known, I would have used a template without so many links to things you already know.
- I suppose technologies that discourage deep reading are threats to Wikipedia. I'm thinking of search engines that give information right up front so that you don't even need to click a link. I'm also thinking of AI chatbots, which can in theory be used for deep research but are often used as a substitute for research. Social media seems to encourage a culture where actually looking things up and reading the sources: commenters on Instagram seem to think that even doing a Google search is too much effort. That's a shame in a world in which most people have the opportunity to write for an encyclopedia. What challenges to Wikipedia are you most concerned about? - Thank you for the reply. I hate to say it but I share your spirit here: things that disincentivize being literate in vetting sources are challenges to Wikipedia that I'm most concerned about. The most salient example on my mind is AI and its belligerents on either side who I think are making the same basic mistake: blaming/praising the tool instead of the tool maker. I think people should taught how to vet sources and be given basic education in philosophy and logic from an early age so they don't have to take any sources word for it, so that they know what to even look out for vetting a source. — Princess Micky 09:53, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
“Link is working”
