Some years ago I left a similar comment after coming to a discussion (I think listed at ANRFC) with an eye to closing it only to find I actually had an opinion and so !voted, leaving a comment similar to the one of yours I quote here. One of the other participants explicitly thanked me for expressing my opinion as a !vote rather than making a biased close.
