Móric Csak

Dobrý deň. Veľmi dobre ste spracovali Mórica Csaka. Hľadám informáciu,k tejto osobe. Mám dokument, v ktorom kráľ Karol Róbert z Anjou spomína, že istý Mgr. Maurícius mal práva na vyhľadávanie a ťažbu drahých kovov. /stredoveký prospektor alebo baník/. Mgr. ~2026-26803-54 (talk) 14:39, 3 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, ~2026-26803-54, we do not have an article on Mórica Csaka or Móric Csak, so I have no idea what you are talking about. - Arjayay (talk) 16:07, 3 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

only caste-related articles and edits are restricted. It's a relatively recent clarification from arbcom -- Aunva6talk - contribs 00:46, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aunva6 thank you for your message, but I am rather confused.
If we expand template {{subst:welcome-ctsa}} we get-

Hi Arjayay! I noticed your contributions and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay.

I've noticed that you've expressed an interest in South Asian topics. Unfortunately, due to a history of conflict and disruptive editing it has been designated a contentious topic and is subject to some strict rules.

The rule that affects you most as a new or IP editor is the prohibition on making any edit related to Indian military history or castes, political parties, and social groups in South Asia, which includes discussing articles on talk pages, unless you are logged into an account that is at least 30 days old and has made at least 500 edits.

This prohibition is broadly construed, so it includes edits such as adding the reaction of a public figure concerning a historical conflict to their article, discussing which caste a person may or may not belong to, or noting the position of a company or organization as it relates a political party.

The exception to this rule is that you may request a specific change to an article on the talk page of that article or at this page. Please ensure that your requested edit complies with our neutral point of view and reliable sourcing policies, and if the edit is about a living person our policies on biographies of living people as well.

Any edits you make contrary to these rules are likely to be reverted, and repeated violations can lead to you being blocked from editing.

This is exactly the same notice as it was on 15 January, and is not restricted just to castes, as it includes "social groups"
Furthermore if I look at Wikipedia:Contentious_topics/South_Asia#Subtopic_of_castes I do not see the "relatively recent clarification from arbcom" that you mention.
The last change that I see (which was to remove "broadly construed") was on 27 March and the restriction still includes "history, politics, and social groups"
Could you please point me to a decision to remove "ethnicity, and social groups" (and why hasn't the advice note been changed? - although I don't expect you to answer that!)
Many thanks - Arjayay (talk) 11:51, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
per this ARCA. South Asian social groups are all still contentious topics, but the ECR was narrowed to strictly caste related topics. -- Aunva6talk - contribs 14:31, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
ive edited the template to bring it up to date. -- Aunva6talk - contribs 14:37, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Aunva6 Thanks for your reply, I had written a long reply, which got caught up in an edit conflict, and has been largely superseded by your template edits. At least we now have a template which is not directly contradictory to the arbcon changes, albeit that it doesn't clarify that ethnicity and social groups are all still contentious topics. Thanks and best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 14:55, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
might just be easier to shove the CT first alert template into it. -- Aunva6talk - contribs 15:08, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Aunva6 - I think that might dilute the impact, and confuse the reader with different parameters, as well as verging on WP:TLDNR - Arjayay (talk) 18:52, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Template:Contentious topics/alert/first isn't that much longer, and you're essentially giving them the first alert for CT anyways. and you would push the parameter anyhow. -- Aunva6talk - contribs 18:59, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnic article

Dear Arjayay, as you are well aware we do not add an image of people on the infobox for large ethnic groups articles. Almost all the ones that I have seen such as Danes, Polish people, English people, Japanese people, Sindhis, Italians, Pashtuns, Arabs, Albanians, Punjabis etc. none of them have images of those people, rather their distribution is shown on a map. Why is there an exception being made for the Bengalis article? For a long time it was like that on this article as well where there was no image, but now a user recently added it. I think it is important we maintain consistency, please sort this mess out I'd really appreciate it. Thanks , Jaunpurzada (talk) 18:17, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jaunpurzada the "rule" I assume you are referring to is Image#NOETHNICGALLERIES , which does not apply in this case, as there is only a single image, not a gallery of images. As for the "distribution shown on a map" that can be added as well as the image, it is not an "either-or" situation. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 18:48, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Lustleigh May Day / Find My Past

Hi there,

Thanks for the edit on Lustleigh May Day around removing Find My Past.

The policy seems to be disproportionate for the particular type of content, so I have restored the cite for now, and opened a discussion here: Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#Findmypast_-_Newspaper_archive
