The Prisoner of Zelda 1979 - Uncredited role of John Rhys-Davies

You've reverted my edits twice for missing or unreliable citations. I didn't have a source the first edit, and I listed the IMDB number for the second edit. John Rhys-Davies appears in the movie - I can see and hear him. He's uncredited so I don't know how to give credit to an uncredited role though he was clearly in the movie. Please indicate how I can make this edit. Thanks. WUpdater01 (talk) 04:51, 17 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@WUpdater01: Per WP:V: Wikipedia's content is determined by published information rather than editors' beliefs, experiences, or previously unpublished ideas or information. Even if you are sure something is true, it must have been published in a reliable source before you can add it. IMDB is not a reliable source for content like this per WP:IMDB (and that page doesn't appear to even support the claim). For that content to be in the article it would need a reliable source verifying that what is being added is true, especially since this is a WP:BLP. - Aoidh (talk) 05:03, 17 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate the high standards. I want to adhere to those. John Rhys-Davies appears in the 1979 'The Prisoner of Zenda' at approximately 52 minutes as a Sergeant of Arms and has a speaking role. That said, if no written/published record of something exists (as available by Internet search) - and yet the thing exists as seen in an image(snapshot) or video(clip from movie), how does one incorporate knowledge that is certain and verified by 'viewing'? What mechanism is in place for that? That's what I'd like to determine. Thanks for responding. WUpdater01 (talk) 17:35, 17 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
If it's an uncredited role and there's no way that the film verifies that John Rhys-Davies is in this film then the film doesn't serve as verification. You think it's him, but it could be someone that just happens to look very similar, and if the information is being challenged then there's no way to verify that it's actually him with the film itself. We would need a source saying that yes, that is in fact John Rhys-Davies in that film. - Aoidh (talk) 22:37, 17 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Although a I think even an unreliable source, (such as a social media post of the actor or the director) would work. In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 00:36, 7 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Marjane Satrapi talk page

Hello, I just wanted to drop by and say thank you so much for your patience regarding explaining the death date and WP rules to other users and being so vigilant with people's edits. The other editor seemed pretty aggressive but you were so polite for the entire time, it was really admirable so I wanted to let you know it was appreciated. (Wait also I just realised you're on the Arbitration Committee so you probably see a lot of this lol).

Thank you for keeping an eye on Satrapi's page, hope you have a nice day! Felinaex (purr / pawprints) 02:03, 7 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Free software illustration error

The reason for adding the free software illustration error is this: Copylefted software is not free software - also read here. Free and open-source software is a broader phrase that encompasses among others free software and copylefted software. --Glenn (talk) 03:02, 21 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The article you linked says that not everyone considers copyleft licenses to be free, however even that statement is sourced from a blog post and is not justification for deciding in Wikipedia's voice that this minority viewpoint is the de facto definition. Even if there were an error, the article itself is not the place to suggest corrections to an image. - Aoidh (talk) 12:08, 21 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Repeated closure of discussions on the Narendra Modi talk page

I am concerned by Black Kite's repeated closure of discussions on the Narendra Modi talk page before editors have had a reasonable opportunity to comment and establish consensus

I am concerned because the topic involves a living person, where Wikipedia's BLP Prematurely closing discussions can prevent editors from discussing tagged policies BLP, NPOV, UNDUE, and LEAD policies , and reaching a genuine consensus regarding how the article should be written. This is particularly concerning in the context of a biography of a living person.

From my experience, this does not appear to be an isolated incident. I believe there is a pattern of closures that are arbitrary, subjective, and inconsistent with Wikipedia's consensus building process.

I therefore request to review whether raised concrns of BLP WEIGHT DUE and LEAD policies are not violated in the larticle lead as per the discussion and consider whether administrative action or guidance is necessary to ensure that future discussions are handled in accordance with Wikipedia's policies and consensus-building principles.

IP, you had plenty of feedback from the admins you pinged to that thread already. In solidarity, asilvering (talk) 18:51, 22 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Asilvering here. You pinged Black Kite to that discussion, and when you repeatedly mass ping admins to discussions (as has been done previously) they may end up taking action that you disagree with. That doesn't make it arbitrary, subjective, and inconsistent with Wikipedia's consensus building process. - Aoidh (talk) 21:37, 22 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
