Timothy Koschmann is an Emeritus Professor of Medical Education at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.1 His works are particularly concerned with ethnomethodological approaches in education.2

He studied philosophy at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (B.A., 1968-1972), experimental psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (M.S., 1976-1980), and computer science at Illinois Institute of Technology (Ph.D., 1982-1987)3

He was one of the founders of the International Society of the Learning Sciences4 and an associate editor of The Journal of the Learning Sciences from 1999-2001.5

He was the subject of a PBS documentary titled The Interaction Cowboy (2023).6
