This is the list of Schedule I controlled substances in the United States as defined by the Controlled Substances Act. The following findings are required for substances to be placed in this schedule:The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse. The drug or other substance has no current accepted medical use in treatment in the United States. There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.

  1. This substance was expressly scheduled by the Controlled Substances Act on October 27, 1970. The 1974 Federal Register ruling (by Administrator John R. Bartels, Jr.) merely organized its listing in the Code of Federal Regulations.
  2. This substance was the subject of an executive order on December 19, 2025. The executive order directs the US Attorney General to begin the process of moving it from a Schedule I to a Schedule III drug
