  • Pripyat amusement park, Pripyat (1986) – was supposed to open on 1 May 1986 for the May Day celebrations, but was abandoned after the Chernobyl disaster on 26 April 1986. The park's Ferris wheel, which is currently standing but not operating,11 serves as a poignant reminder of the massive human effect of the disaster.12
