Peter Iku Dolo AKA Supreme Political leader (born February 1938) is a Ugandan Teacher , from Moyo district and politician who served as the LC V Chairman Moyo District Local Government 2001-2011.1 2
Registrar of Institute of Public Administration IPA (The Current UMI), Transport Officer and In charge Judges Welfare Ministry of Justice, Under Secretary, the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.3
He also served as Chairman District Service Commission Moyo District Local Government, Chairman Land Board Moyo District, Chairman MAYANK and the Founder, Moyo Sacco' the first Sacco in Madi. First Chairman Board of Directors Moyo Sacco and Chairman Board of Governors Moyo SSS.
He was a treasurer, Madi Community and Madi Consultative Forum, As Musical Instructor, led the singing of the Uganda National Anthem for the first time in Madi District on 9th October 1962 in Moyo, and Chaired Organisational Committees to Celebrate Priestly Ordinations of many Madi Priests between 1988-1993 in Kampala.
He also Chaired several Organising Committees to Celebrate Priestly Ordinations of many Madi Priests in Moyo between 1993-2000, Advisor to His Royal Highness Opi Andruvu Denis VI Opi of Rendike Chiefdom, Chair Organising Committees that organized farewell celebrations for The Verona Fathers held at St Mary Assumpta Chapel Moyo Mission and presided by His Lordship Fredrick Bishop Drandua and he Spearheaded and provided Leadership for Archeological works aimed at preserving and opening up Fort Dufile to the World by hosting Prof Merrick Posnasky of UCLA University and Dr. Nigel Fitzpatrick and team of Archeologists from Makerere University at Lebubu Dufile
Early life and education
- He grew up in the West Nile sub-region of Uganda, specifically in Moyo District. His early life was closely tied so much to the Catholic Church. and he completed his Christian sacraments of baptism and confirmation at the Moyo Catholic Parish.4
- He attended Lacor Seminary located in Gulu. He enrolled there in 1952. He frequently used his admission age of 14 to validate his claimed 1938 birth year, noting 14 was the strict statutory age required to enter the seminary at that time
Career
Peter Iku Dolo built a highly visible career as a long-serving politician and local governance leader in Uganda's West Nile sub-region moyo district. He is best known for his extended tenure as the LC5 District Chairperson for Moyo District under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party.5
Peter served two full terms as the Moyo District LC5 Chairman, representing the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party. He secured a key victory in the 2006 General Elections.
In September 2009, he managed cross-border tensions when Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) soldiers raided farmers in Lefori sub-county. He successfully de-escalated mass civil protests at the district headquarters by routing the issue through central diplomatic channels.6
Following Peter's exit from mainstream politics, he transitioned into higher education governance where he serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Nile University in the West Nile region, overseeing resource mobilization, strategic partnerships, and institutional decision-making.7
