What fcc.cc Is

fcc.cc is a collection of exhibits, tools, music, radio and podcast players, weather, news, and community spaces. It runs on our own servers and is looked after in spare time.

Everything is provided as-is. Features can change or go away without notice, and we make no promise about uptime. When something breaks, tell us through support tickets and we will do our best.

Accounts

You do not need an account for most of the site. When you do sign in, it is passwordless: we email you a link or a six-digit code. We send one transactional email per request and never marketing.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your email address current; sign-in depends on it. You can stop using your account at any time. The privacy page lists exactly what an account stores.

Your Content

What you post stays yours. That covers Commons posts and replies, comments, your profile, support tickets, and any music you host with us. By posting it you give fcc.cc permission to store it, display it where the site is designed to display it, and back it up so the site keeps working.

You must have the right to post what you post. We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law. Posting a comment requires a signed-in account; there is no anonymous commenting.

Hosting Your Music

Artists can host their own recordings on notaplayer.net. Hosting is by invitation or application, and the operator reviews every release before it goes live. When you upload a recording you are stating that you own it or hold the rights to it.

You choose the license listeners see on your public page from a fixed list:

• All rights reserved — hosted with the artist's permission. You keep your copyright. People may listen here and nothing more.
• CC0 1.0 (public domain dedication)
• CC BY 4.0, CC BY-SA 4.0, CC BY-NC 4.0, CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, CC BY-ND 4.0, CC BY-NC-ND 4.0

The license you pick is exactly what listeners get. Review records that license, so changing it on a live release goes through the operator.

Downloads are off unless you turn them on for a release. You can take a release offline, or withdraw one that is waiting for review, from the studio at any time. The operator can hide any release at any time, including after it is live; that is the takedown switch.

Acceptable Use

• No harassment, threats, or hate.
• Nothing illegal, and nothing that infringes someone else's rights.
• No impersonating other people or fcc.cc.
• No spam.
• No attempts to break in, evade rate limits, scrape in bulk, or disrupt the service.
• Automated access must follow robots.txt.

Third-Party Material

Much of what you can play or read on fcc.cc comes from somewhere else: live tapes from archive.org (etree), the Jamendo and Free Music Archive catalogs, internet radio streams listed in the radio-browser directory, podcast feeds, and weather data from Open-Meteo, the US National Weather Service, and RainViewer.

That material is made available under its owners' licenses and terms, not ours. fcc.cc does not own it and cannot grant you rights to it. If something is here that should not be, or is credited wrong, report it through support tickets.

Our Content and Code

The fcc.cc source code is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0.

Original content on fcc.cc — exhibit text, blog posts, and editorial writing — is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). You are free to share and adapt that content as long as you give credit and share alike. Third-party material and things other people post are not covered by that license.

No Warranty

Everything on fcc.cc is provided as-is and as-available. We do our best to keep it accurate and running, but we make no guarantee of either. Do not rely on fcc.cc weather or alerts as your only source for safety decisions; check the official source for your area.

Ending Things

We can suspend or close accounts, and remove content, that break these terms. You can delete your account at any time from your My Account page; the privacy page explains what that removes.

Changes

When these terms change, we update this page with a new date.
